Dr. Firpo W. Carr and President Bill Clinton at President's Clinton's Book Signing in Los Angeles, July 2004

Former President Bill Clinton accepts Germany’s Black Holocaust: 1890-1945 from Dr. Carr after which a lively discussion between the two ensued. Famed photographer Howard Bingham captured the moment on film as Clinton and Carr discussed the book at the President’s own signing of his book, My Life. Bingham has been Muhammad Ali’s personal photographer for decades, and was the executive producer of the feature film, Ali, the movie that chronicled the life and times of Muhammad Ali, starring famed actor Will Smith and wife Jada.
On both ends of the sociopolitical spectrum Carr’s works have been widely accepted and admired. Legacy, “Africa’s leading magazine on social issues,” the original Black Panther Party, the New Black Panther Party, and many others have recognized and published Carr.
The Honorable Mervyn Dymally, a conservative African American who formerly held the elected offices of Lt. Governor of California and U.S. Congressman, publicly extolled Carr’s efforts and stated that the Black community need intellectuals like him.
Tom Hayden, former senator from the state of California who served 18 years in the senate, upon examining the book, Germany’s Black Holocaust: 1890-195, exclaimed to Carr: “Why am I 64 years old and haven’t heard of Blacks in the Holocaust?!” Needless to say, the senator immediately purchased Carr’s book.
